Donna, I have someone, in FL, who wants Nashville,Tn. I don't want to move to FL. I found the perfect house, in NC but, he wanted to move to FL. I hope and pray we can work out a 3 way trade. The prices are certainly not the same but, in the same area.
I would like to see more people wanting to trade less expensive homes. Most of the posts here are expensive properties where the seller is willing to take something of less value along with some cash funding. Also, one of the major problems in the market today is the difficulty of moving to another state and being certain you can buy somethinig with the amount of money you can get for your property in state of origin. I don't mind selling cheap if I know I can buy cheap. But a lot of people want to swap on terms where they get a high value for their property when selling, and then being able to buy cheap. I don't want to deal with an investor. I want a win-win deal. Another matter of interest is what will happen in the market for people who are in reverse mortgage situations and want to move to another state and get another reverse mortgage in the new state.
Hello Joyce, I agree with you on most points. I do understand why most people only want to trade down if their property is paid for, it's because they don't want a mortgage in this day and age. I would gladly trade my $339,900.00 home in Missouri for a $250,000.00 home in another area if they were similar in comparison to the area's cost of living. I sold my home in N. California for $520,000.00 and bought the beautiful home I'm in now for $290,000.00. In California it would have been $800,000.00 easy. So, I guess the question would be, would the $250,000.00 home in another area be worth the $339,900.00 here. I see it that way if I were able to trade. Does that make sense? So, most people need to adjust if this swapping thing is going to fly. Debbie in Missouri
